If you are on the fence, then take the plunge and buy the kit. It is definitely worth the price. You should definitely go to your nearest hardware store and buy a real flex hose and gas rated Teflon tape. I tried to bend the pipe with a real pipe bending tool and it still kinked every time.

We were tired of burning wood fires with all of the clean up they require. These logs were a great alternative. As others have mentioned the way they burn looks very realistic. We have had a number of compliments regarding their appearance along with the amount of heat they output for ceramic gas logs. I installed these myself by purchasing the Mr. Heater one stop gas connector hose that was recommended. A few notes when installing: Don't use the thermal tape on the beveled end of the connectors. For safety reasons make sure the hose does not touch the grate that this comes with after installing. Snake it around it as needed. If your fireplace has a gas starter pipe as ours did make sure to use 2 pipe wrenches when uninstalling to make sure you don't loosen the gas connection behind your walls.Per the company, without a valve, there is nothing to control the flow of gas coming into your home should the flame blow out for any reason. A control valve would auto shut off the gas from flowing into your home. Also, with a control valve, you could adjust the flow of gas using the attached dial or add a remote, thereby controlling the size of your flame. Most of all, you’re not messing with lighter and matches on a flowing gas pipe to get a flame started, the control valve helps to light the fire. I admit I didn’t understand all that when I ordered these logs - didn’t even know what a control valve was or that it’s generally expected on a gas log set. Would’ve lived with it as a consequence of not taking time to educate myself about a product, but the danger of having uncontrolled gas leakage is not something I’d want to risk.I wanted a triple-burner for the indoor and a single for out, so I got this set and split it. I have the logs indoor with a Peterson real-fyre triple-burner under them and it works great. Then I put this burner and stand outside with a cheap set of logs because we don't use it much, and it all worked out great.

I did use the SPK-26 standing pilot for safety, and that's a great fit too. Very satisfied.Only problem is the flex i found is all yellow which looked kinda stupid in the fireplace. The burner pans in these things are great, really spreads the flame around. Only thing i suggest is they make it so the burner can come forward more under the rack, seems like a lot of the flame is going on behind the logs instead of up through them.Initially the logs baked off something and the neighbor thought my house might be on fire from the smoke. NOW, the black soot coming from this product doesn't end. I have cleaned the inside glass, exterior of my house(repainted twice) around the vent 6 times now. It is so black I cant see the flames through the glass - 6 times to date.There was more heat than I thought there would be after reading reviews. The price was much, much less than a comparable model I found at the local fireplace store. I did buy the flex gas line recommended from other reviewers and it was helpful. Only problem with installation was getting the old gas line off first but that has no bearing on the purchased product. Would recommend this and may end up getting another regular size set for my living room fireplace.It also gives off quite a bit of heat. All the logs were delivered intact. The parcel was well packaged and sufficiently cushioned so there was no breakage. It also came one day earlier than expected. Very good service by Amazon!! The only thing I would have liked with the fireplace is a regulator that would automatically shut the fireplace down if a flame wasn't present. I plan on being present while the fireplace is operating. I guess that would have been a whole lot more money. Much safer in my opinion. Had I realized this was a manual start, I would have only purchased replacement logs. About the logs. One was broken in shipment but it works for my purposes. The packing slip says you can call customer service for replacement assistance. I didn't notice any funny smell and they seem to hold and radiate heat well. It's running right now. It is just a gas line with holes in it and there is no way to attach a proper safety kit to the logs at all. If the fire goes out the gas will continue to pour into the house with no way to shut it off. There is NO safety features on this at all. In fact, in order to light the logs, my parents would have to crawl into the fireplace, reach to the back and manually turn on the gas, then use a lighter to ignite the logs. Again, if the fire goes out for any reason, gas will continue to flow into the house. How can anyone with a conscience sell this to someone. There was nothing in the description to indicate this major flaw. The professional installer said he had never seen any set like this in his entire career. I am now stuck with this horrible defunct product that no one should EVER use. I feel like there should have been something on the description to warn you about this flaw in the design. If I could give this product negative stars it would be a negative 10 stars.please do not buy this log set and warn anyone you know looking into this, to avoid this manufacturer. They should take some responsibility here and going forward properly give full safety details upfront on the description. I have never felt swindled and I purchase a great deal of things every year from Amazon. Amazon is my favorite go to place and I have always been 100% satisfied until now. Please take this company off of your site and refuse to sell their logs to anyone for the safety of your customers. There is no whistling or sound, it actually produces good heat ( was not expecting heat). All new gas fireplaces smell weird in the beginning but the smell goes away with about 4 hours of use. For the price I was not expecting much but boy was I surprised. I recommend this product 100%.

There’s some people that complained of having broken logs. Thankfully mine were all intact. Even still, the manufacturer included a separate note to contact them directly for replacements if there was an issue. This is probably the best value out there!Gracias por su comentario. The gas flow noise is quite noticeable even on low settings. We did not install a remote or anything so it is manual control, match-lit. Lights up quick and easy. The flames are only realistic looking on medium-high to high settings. You barely see anything on the lower flow. It has a major odor when you shut it down. We have to leave the flue open for about 20 minutes after turning it off which lets a lot of cold air into the house- big con of the log set. Another con of the set is that it makes zero heat. This is because you have to have the flue wide open to run it. You only feel a little heat off of it if you are right in front of the fireplace. If you are looking for something energy efficient to any degree, this isn't for you. Since this is vented, make sure you open your damper before turning on the fireplace.

Once you are done, turn off the fireplace, but leave the damper open 3-5 minutes to keep any smoke from coming in. As others have said, when you first fire up the logs, there is a slight smell, but it quickly burns off. I highly recommend this set. They were laid on farm with another piece of foam on top of them in a box too big and they rattled and rolled as I picked up the dented box. Upon opening of expecting it to be in pieces I was shocked at the extremely poor quality look of these logs. I'm not kidding it was horrible. I don't know who gives the star ratings. It is a bendable straw size solid pipe with a fitting on each end. The instructions say if it is to long, you must use a pipe cutter to shorten it, which I and most people, do not have. Once you bend it, you can not reshape it without damaging it.

I ended up going to Home Depot and buying a gas log installation kit which comes with a flexible line and adaptors and was very easy to connect.
